Fostering Global Business Education: The Austral Group and Atlassian Collaboration

In the bustling tech hub of San Francisco, Austral Group and Atlassian have forged a partnership in global business education.

This collaboration provides a unique platform for students to gain real-world insights and make meaningful connections within the tech industry by hosting business school students on immersive visits.

We had the opportunity to speak with Tanvi Singh, Partner Experience Manager at Atlassian, to delve deeper into our collaboration and her experience hosting student groups.

A Partnership Built on Connection and Collaboration

The collaboration between Austral Group and Atlassian began with a simple LinkedIn message. Our program manager from Austral Group reached out to Tanvi, sparking a conversation that leveraged existing connections within Atlassian. “It was just a common connection,” Tanvi recalls. This initial outreach paved the way for a seamless partnership, built on mutual understanding and a shared commitment to student development.

An Experience Beyond the Classroom

For the students who visit Atlassian, the experience is both enlightening and inspiring. Tanvi emphasizes the importance of dialogue over presentation, allowing students to engage directly with industry professionals. During their visits, students participate in discussions led by Tanvi and other panelists, exploring diverse career paths and networking strategies. The students, eager to embark on their careers in tech, resonate with the non-traditional journeys shared by Atlassian’s team. “They were very keen to understand how they can break into the market,” Tanvi notes.

The visits also include an immersive tour of Atlassian’s facilities, offering students a firsthand look at the innovative work environment that the company fosters. Many students leave with new connections, adding Tanvi and other team members on LinkedIn to maintain a professional relationship.

Mutual Benefits and a Culture of Support

While the students gain invaluable insights and connections, Atlassian also reaps benefits from these interactions. Tanvi describes her personal motivation as a desire to give back to the community, inspired by her own transformative experiences during university. She believes that sharing her journey can inspire students to pursue their aspirations with confidence.

Atlassian’s supportive culture is a cornerstone of this partnership. “My manager is a big advocate of mentoring and supporting women in tech,” Tanvi explains. The company encourages employees to mentor and engage with students, aligning with its broader commitment to community and personal development. This culture not only supports Tanvi’s involvement but also underscores Atlassian’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of tech leaders.

Impacting Students and the Industry

The partnership between Austral Group and Atlassian exemplifies the power of collaboration in education. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, these programs equip students with the skills and insights they need to thrive in the global business landscape. As Tanvi reflects, “If anything I say in that two hours timeframe sticks with someone, it’s a great way to keep the cycle moving forward.”

In conclusion, the Austral Group and Atlassian partnership is more than just an educational initiative; it is a testament to the transformative potential of global immersion. By fostering a supportive and engaging environment, this collaboration not only prepares students for successful careers but also strengthens the tech industry as a whole. As we look to the future, such partnerships will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
